History

The Over-55s Club was started in September 1993. Weekly meetings were held in St  Mary's RC Church Hall. Membership reached 75, with an average of around 48  members, male and female, at each meeting.

The Club moved to the newly refurbished Youth Club premises in June 1997. By 2000, our weekly attendance was around 25 and only one male remained - Bob Allen, the Chairman.

Meetings

Members pay £1 a week, and 50p for a raffle for which we always have two prizes.

We have talks, demonstrations, slide shows etc on a large variety of subjects, along with quizzes, games, pie & peas etc. We then have tea and biscuits followed by 5 games of bingo.

Beckstone Primary School visit us each year to perform their Harvest Festival and Christmas concerts.

The Youth Club Committee have given us permission to have a Bring and Buy stall which raises money for our funds from our  members and others users of the building.

Membership

Since moving to the larger downstairs room in Autumn 2007 membership has increased to 48 and we have had to close our membership so that all members can go on the two bus trips we organise each year.
